Full-Rigged Ship vs. Tekkhousen - 2008/12/11 20:38

Which is better? I've invested in bristol just to see the fancy secre barge, but the Full-Rigg tops it in every way. Obviously the Frigate out-does the Galleon, but then the Full-Rigg tops that in fire power as well as man power. Now... I've never gotten my hands on the Tekkhousen... I've read it goes by steel and steel platting only in its' hull. It's also row powered, therefor the wind is no long a horribly enemy when it dies down. But does it match the fire power and man power as the full rigg? Even if it does, the Full Rigg ship is conveniently located much closer than the long hauling trip and very expensive (assuming you go in a convoy of ships) trip to the Tekkhousen's whereabouts. Votes anyone?

Technically, You could propel the Full-Rigged with a mere 40 crew members. Its' speed may not be very impressive, its' fire power could make you seemingly invincible. I've caused from 25-50 damage in a single shot (sinking merchant ships in a single bound!). Since I favor the ability to destroy your enemy in nearly 2 rounds, the fact that rushing your enemy that only causes a maximum total of 50 damage to them, and maybe even yourself, just makes the Full-Rigged ship shine more brightly. However, I haven't had the opportunity to enjoy the Tekkhoussen, I can only point out the flaws and amazing capabilities of the Full-Rigged ship.

Cpt,

it really depends what you want to make with your ships. The Full-rigged is better than the tekkousen for fighting (Full-rigged: 1200 cargo, 500 crew max and 150 guns max vs. Tekkousen: 1100 cargo, 300 crew max and 100 guns max), however it is much tougher to handle (Full-rigged: turing rate 50, speed rate: 55 vs Tekkousen: turn rate: 80, speed rate: 85). So if you your character or mate sailing level is above 15 and seamanship and related skills above 90, the Full-rigged will be alright. Otherwise, your travel will be painfully slow, especially in opposite winds.

Another point of comparaison is the cost (when port price rate is 100%): Full-rigged: 320,000 gold, Tekkousen 196,000 gold and the min crew: Full-rigged: 50, Tekkousen: 45

How to obtain a Tekkousen
The only port that builds it is Sakai (Japan). To get it to appear in the shipyard, you must invest in the shipyard until the industrial rate of the port reaches 1000 (about 4 or 5 times @ 50,000 gold). The hull is always 100/100. Once available, it takes 72 days for the shipyard to build it. Even though it takes a while to reach Sakai and to wait for the construction, you can make tons of money, actually tons and tons if you have a convoy of trading ships, while waiting by buying silver in Nagasaki, selling it for gold in east africa (I think Quemaline or Mombasa have it) than reselling the gold in nagasaki. This can be futher helped if you invest in these port to get them as allies of you country and by obtaining the tax-free permit from your soveirgn or at the black market.

One thing is for sure, the Tekkousen is the best all-around and, more particularly, the best trading ship you can get!!!!!

I prefer the Tekkousen by far. What I like about it is that it requires oars, and not sails to move - so it is not effected at all by the wind. Plus, it can generally move farther and make more difficult maneuvers in battle.

It holds a great amount of crew, and cargo, plus the Tacking and Speed are very good. All in all, it's the perfect ship!!
