Accessories - 2009/05/24 09:50

What is the purpose of buying accessories, like the combs and robes and such? Besides giving them to waitresses, what do they 'do'?

they look nice.
they are expensive to buy and kind of pointless, but it makes for some nice unexpected schwag at the victorious end of a battle

They are used as gift for the waitresses at the "bar". After you give gift for a certain value, you will be able to use their investigation command which allow you to obtain certain information about ships from a certain country.

The investigation has 2 part: 1) You select the country`s fleet you want info on: Portugal, Spain, ... and Pirates. 2) You select the type of fleet: convoys, voyaging or trade(?). For Pirates the types are: Privateer, buccaneers and another one (can`t remember). Depending on how much gift value you gave, the waitress will tell you how much time it will take her.

Once the time has past, return to the waitress and select the investigation command. She will then tell you where 3 or 4 of the country`s fleet are headed to and their current location coordinates.

To get the most valuable accessories, go to the port of Timbuktu (West africa) and to its item shop at 2, 2.30 (Black market). I think 2 of the items are diamond crown (or crown of majesty) and ruby scepter, both valued at 50,000 gold pieces.

they are also there so when you pirate, you can rob people of them and sell them

used for waitresses too

When it comes to Items, I want to say this;

All the really good items can be found at 2:00 or 2:30 am on the "Black Market"
The best armor for your money will Errol's Plate in Copenhagen for 30 ingots
the coolest armor is Crusador's armor in Naples for 60 ingots, also * rated
You can get TFP (tax-free permit) for 1 ingot here:
Azov: Spain
Tripoli: Turkey
Salonika: Portugual
Syracuse: Italy
Antwerp: Holland
Danzig: England

These are lifesavers for merchants when they can't get a TFP from an enemy nation

Useful Items:
Cat (very useful, you dont need rat poison ever)Ports: Mecca. Zeiton. Nagasaki. Sakai
Pocket Watch (For expert Merchants who want to arrive in Port at a certain time)Ports: Amsterdam
Quadrant (there are three measuring items, all do the same, this is cheapest)Ports: Hamburg. Lisbon. Genoa. Ragusa. Istanbul
Balm (most useful thing on the planet, get a few)Ports: Bordeaux. Barcelona. Beirut. Goa. Zeiton. Santo Domingo
Lime Juice (rarely used)Ports: Valencia. Syracuse. Athens. Algiers. Zeiton. Panama. Caracas. Cartegena. Santiago

Star Swords:
Rune Blade (36 ingots) : Pernambuco
Blue Crescent (2.4 ingots):Zeiton. Changan (I was hinted that it existed when I saw the Idien Lies use it in combat against me)
Crusader Sword (38 ingots):Timbuktu (It looks cool with the armor, but thats just me)
Magic Muramasa (38 ingots) : Sakai

Don't forget a telescope. Finding villages and ports is nearly impossible without one.

Oh, and there's a star sword in a port somewhere in or around India, Siva's Sword. I don't remember the exact port.
